Here are success stories

The training course “Expressart-E” took place in Murcia, Spain from 2nd to 9th June 2023, bringing together youth workers from 10 different countries in Europe and the Eastern Partnership. The primary focus of the course was to explore how art can serve as a powerful tool for expressing emotions and to provide participants with practical strategies for implementing these tools in their respective communities. The training was organized by Associacion Miras, an organization that ensured all activities were meticulously planned and executed.

Representing Armenia in this unique training course were two participants: Anna Mekhakyan and Nina Hayrapetyan, both actively involved in the field of education. The course commenced with an engaging session where participants crafted their own personalized notebooks, which would later serve as a platform for their notes and artistic creations. As the training progressed, the participants delved into an exploration of the concept of emotions, their functions, and the subtle differences between them. The theoretical knowledge imparted during this phase was swiftly put into practice through a series of activities designed to help participants identify and categorize emotions effectively. Subsequently, this newfound understanding was translated into artistic expressions.

One of the most significant lessons that the project conveyed was that art can be employed to express every possible emotion. Despite none of the participants considering themselves professional artists, they all acquired invaluable techniques to channel their emotions, whether they were happy, sad, angry, or fearful, and ultimately experienced a sense of relief and well-being. Importantly, while everyone was encouraged to actively participate, no one was compelled to openly share their emotions. However, those who courageously chose to do so were met with exceptional support from both the organizers and their fellow participants.

Throughout the training course, various art forms were explored, including drawing, painting, collage-making, body painting, and even ground-based mandala art. These artistic expressions served as powerful mediums through which the participants shared their innermost feelings and attempted to master them. By incorporating art in its diverse forms, the project aimed to foster emotional intelligence among the participants, allowing them to develop a deeper understanding and control of their emotions.

In addition to the thought-provoking activities facilitated by the trainers, the training course was further enriched by master classes conducted by local and international artists. These accomplished artists generously shared their insights into infusing emotions into artistic creations. Each master class included a practical component where participants had the opportunity to create their own artworks, thereby consolidating their learning and applying the techniques taught throughout the course.

The training course “Expressart-E” in Murcia, Spain provided a transformative experience for youth workers from various countries. By exploring the potential of art as a tool for emotional expression, the participants gained valuable skills and knowledge that they could take back to their communities. Through a combination of theory and practical activities, the project successfully empowered participants to harness the power of art and emotions, fostering personal growth and emotional intelligence.
